Lisbon Fashion Week
Já não assistia à ModaLisboa há cerca de 5 anos. Sempre gostei da sensação de ver um desfile, da sala a transformar-se quando as luzes se apagam e a música substitui as vozes dos espectadores que pacientemente esperam por assistir aos dez minutos de passarela cuja concretização implica meses e meses de trabalho.
O formato da semana da moda Portuguesa é muito diferente. Ao contrario da inglesa que começa as 9 da manhã, em Portugal os desfiles começam as 18h e seguem-se pela noite dentro, o que para mim é um reflexo da nossa cultura, em Portugal tudo é uma festa e é por isso que sabe tão bem voltar.
I hadn't been to Lisbon Fashion week in 5 years, wow time flies! I always liked the feeling of watching a fashion show, the room changing when the lights go out and the music replacing the voices of the spectators who patiently wait to watch a ten minute show which involves months and months of work.
The format of the Portuguese fashion week is very different. Unlike the English one that starts at 9 am, in Portugal the shows start at 6 pm and go until pass midnight, which for me is a reflection of our culture, in Portugal everything is a party and that is why it feels so good to be back.
Comecei por me maquilhar na Bobbi Brown do El Corte Inglês com a maravilhosa Liliana Carro de quem sou fã. My make-up was done at Bobbi Brown in El Corte Ingles with the wonderful Liliana Carro whose work I'm a fan. For the record, I'm not sponsored by the brand, but when you buy two products in any Bobbi Brown in the world you are entitled to a professional make-up, so if you ever want to get your make-up done for a special occasion you know what to do! In terms of hair I did my own styling and it looked like it was going to be a good hair day until the rain ruined it. Typical!
Com a maquilhagem feita e de cabelo pegajoso graças à humidade que se fazia sentir dirigi-me então à minha agência, Elite Lisbon, onde o meu stylist e amigo Ricardo Aço me vestiu com um look total do Gonçalo Peixoto. Eu amei este outfit! Ainda fiquei mais fã do estilista quando descobri que tem apenas 19 anos e que já vai na sua terceira coleção. Este look é claramente um statement, mas se há ocasião onde se pode arriscar no que se veste é a semana da moda. Afinal este é o evento onde se celebra a criatividade, então porque não sair da minha zona de conforto? Apesar de ser um outfit tão fora do comum, senti-me super bem nele e para ser honesta looks como este só funcionam se nos sentirmos confiantes neles. O azul e vermelho garridos, a estrutura arquitectónica do casaco e o macacão coladinho ao corpo fizeram-me parecer a versão feminina do super-homem! Afinal a roupa tem mesmo super poderes...
With my make-up done and sticky hair thanks to the humidity of that day I made my way to the agency, Elite Lisbon. In there the real transformation happened when I stepped into the outfit designed by Gonçalo Peixoto which my stylist and friend Ricardo Aço had put together. I loved it! I became even more a fan of the designer when I discovered that he is only 19 years old and is already in his third collection. This look is clearly a statement, but Fashion week seems the right time to take this kind of risks. After all this is the event that celebrates creativity, so why not get out of my comfort zone? Despite the unusual outfit, I felt good in it and to be honest looks like this only work if we really feel confident in them. The blue and red, the architectural structure of the coat, and the tight-fitting jumpsuit made me feel like the female version of Superman! After all clothes have real super powers ...
A Mariama recebe-me sempre assim, de braços e coração abertos. Passe o tempo que passar ela presenteia-me sempre com um sorrido de orelha a orelha e uma energia inigualável! Para além disso ela é um dos motores da ModaLisboa e uma inspiração enquanto mulher e criativa.
Mariama always welcomes me like this, with open arms and heart. No matter how long we spend apart she always greets me with an uplifting energy and a smile from ear to ear! There is no Fashion Week without Mariama, she is an inspiration as a woman and creative.

Se me segues no Instagram sabes que fiz um take over da conta da Elite que é a agência que me representa desde os meus 13 anos de idade, portanto como devem calcular mais do que colegas de trabalho estas pessoas são quase como família para mim. Já vários agentes, publicists, bookers, sócios passaram pela agência ao longo dos anos mas a verdade é que, independentemente de quem vai e quem fica, há sempre um ambiente muito familiar entre todos nós e, acreditem, esta é uma qualidade muito difícil de encontrar dentro de um ambiente de trabalho.
If you follow me on instagram you know that I took over Elite's account during the first day of Fashion Week. Elite represents me since I was 13 years old, so as you can imagine more than co-workers these people are almost like family for me. Already several agents, publicists, bookers, partners have passed through the agency over the years but the truth is that, regardless of who goes and who stays, there is always a very familiar environment among all of us and, believe me, this is a very difficult quality to find within a work environment.

Como os desfiles decorrem pela noite dentro é claro que a certa altura fiquei com fome. Assim sendo corri de saltos altos com o casaco a cobrir-me a cabeça para evitar molhar-me até à tasca mais próxima, estão a imaginar a figurinha? Pedi um bitoque e uma imperial, não imaginam as saudades que eu tinha desta combinação.
As the shows happen during the evening, I ended up getting hungry at some point. So I ran in high heels to the nearest tavern with my coat over my head to keep me from getting wet, can you imagine how ridiculous I looked? I ordered a "bitoque" and a beer, I can't tell you how much I missed this combination.
Foi tão bom encontrar tanta gente que me é querida e de quem tinha tantas saudades. O dia foi longo mas a verdade é que sai do evento inspirada pela criatividade dos criadores nacionais e com o coração cheio. Dos desfiles que vi durante o único dia em que estive presente gostei especialmente das coleções da Carolina Machado e do Aleksandar Protic. A Carolina prima pela sua elegância e o Protic pelo seu minimalismo. Mas independemente de gostar ou não das coleções dos restantes aplaudo todos os criadores portugueses por lutarem pelo seu lugar numa indústria onde onde ainda é tão difícil subsistir. Obrigada por me inspirarem e até daqui a 6 meses!
It was so good to bump into so many people that I love and missed so much. The day was long but I left the event with my heart overflowing with love and inspired by the creativity of the Portuguese designers. From all the shows I got to see during that day, I really enjoyed Carolina Machado and Aleksandar Protic's collections. Carolina excels by her elegance and Protic by his minimalism. But regardless of whether or not I like the collections I applaud all the Portuguese creators for fighting for their place in an industry where it is still so difficult to survive. Thank you for inspiring me and see you in 6 months!
