Xmas outfits
Christmas in my family is celebrated in a very relaxed way. Usually we all meet in the Alentejo, Portugal, in a small village called Entradas. Nowadays most of the family lives in Lisbon or in the Algarve but we all return to this village because my father and aunt, also called Catarina, were born there and that's where my 91 year old grandmother, Custódia, lives. Celebrating Christmas in Entradas is always special, the village is very small, it has two streets only, and the houses of my relatives are very close to mine. Although London is especially beautiful during the Christmas season, it feels good to return to the Alentejo and escape the crowds in order to enjoy Christmas without the stress of a big city. Normally we all cook, thus contributing to a delicious feast of homemade delicacies. The fireplace is lit 24 hours a day, and we spend the days watching Christmas movies, eating a lot, catching up, walking in the fields and at night playing scrabble, which my father or my bother, of course, always win (bloody writers!) Nowadays we no longer buy gifts for the whole family, we choose to do a "secret Santa" instead, that way Christmas is not about consumerism but enjoying the rare gift of each other's company. We used to spend Christmas in our pajamas, but last year me and my sister decided to break this tradition and dress up a little.Let's just say we didn't want to look like we were sick in family pictures anymore. And, since we are not all together often, it seems to me that the occasion deserves the effort!
O Natal na minha família é celebrado de uma forma muito relaxada. Por norma reunimo-nos todos no Alentejo, numa pequena vila de seu nome Entradas. Hoje em dia a maior parte da família vive em Lisboa ou no Algarve mas todos regressamos à vila porque foi lá que o meu pai e tia nasceram e onde vive a minha avó Custódia que completou 91 anos de vida há pouco mais de um mês. Celebrar o Natal em Entradas tem um sabor especial, a vila é muito pequenina, tem duas ruas apenas, e as casas dos meus familiares são muito próximas da minha. Ainda que Londres seja especialmente bonita durante a época natalícia sabe bem voltar ao Alentejo e fugir das multidões para poder usufruir do Natal sem o stress que se vive nas grandes cidades. Por norma todos cozinhamos contribuindo assim para um banquete delicioso de iguarias caseiras. A lareira fica acesa 24h por dia e passamos os dias a ver filmes natalícios, a comer, a matar saudades, a passear pelo campo e, à noite, a jogar scrabble, não fosse eu filha de um escritor. Hoje em dia já não compramos presentes para a família toda, optamos por fazer um “amigo secreto” entre nós para que deste modo o Natal seja não uma época consumista mas sim uma ocasião em que usufruímos do raro acontecimento que é estarmos todos juntos! No ano passado eu e a minha irmã decidimos quebrar a tradição de passar o Natal de pijama e arranjámo-nos-nos um bocadinho. Digamos que queríamos deixar de parecer que estávamos doentes nas fotografias de família. E, visto que não temos a oportunidade de estar todos juntos muitas vezes, parece-me que a ocasião merece o esforço!
The new Rixo London collection could not be more appropriate for this festive season. Its fun patterns, sometimes with galactic or oriental references, will make you shine at any Christmas or New Year's Eve party. Until I got to know Rixo I didn't really wear patterned clothes, instead I use to opt for a more minimalist style, but the truth is that the unique designs of their prints have conquered me and now there is no stopping me! And the best thing is that if I wish to go for a more comfortable look I can just throw an oversized knit jumper over these fluttering pieces and they will look just as cool. In addition they will work with both high heels or trainers. Regardless of how you celebrate Christmas, do not forget that, essentially, it is all about celebrating love, and self-love also deserves a place in these festivities. Don't forget to celebrate yourself and wear something that makes you feel good!
A nova colecção da Rixo London não poderia ser mais apropriada para esta época festiva. As suas peças de padrões divertidos, ora com referências galácticas, ora orientais, fazem um brilharete numa festa de Natal ou fim-de-ano. Até conhecer a Rixo eu não costumava recorrer a padrões, optando sempre por um estilo mais minimalista, mas a verdade é que os designs únicos dos seus prints me conquistaram e agora ninguém me para! E o melhor é que se quiseres estar mais confortável bastas vestires um camisolão de lã por cima destas peças esvoaçantes e ficas igualmente cool. Para além disso resultam tanto de saltos altos como de ténis. Independentemente da forma como festejas o Natal, não te esqueças que, essencialmente, esta é a época em que se celebra o amor, e o amor próprio merece igualmente um lugar nestes festejos. Não te esqueças de te celebrar a ti mesma(o) e veste algo que te faça sentir bem!

I can not believe how fast this year went by! Although I am very excited to go home for Christmas, I am also a little sad for not to spending it with my boyfriend. What are your plans for this Christmas? Tell me everything :)
Nem acredito no quão rapidamente este ano passou! Apesar de estar muito excitada por ir passar o Natal a casa estou também um bocadinho triste não o passar com o meu namorado. Quais são os vossos planos para este Natal? Contem-me tudo:)
