Dear readers, I haven't recommended you a restaurant in such a long time! This is not the kind of restaurant where you'll go to celebrate a special occasion, but is a great option for a casual meal.
Queridos leitores já faz tempo que não vos recomendo um restaurante. Este não é propriamente um restaurante onde se vai para celebrar uma ocasião especial mas é uma óptima opção para uma refeição casual.
What fascinates me most is the story behind the creation of this restaurant. Steve, the owner, opened Standfarm shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. It's amazing how from such a critical situation arises, instead of defeat, the motivation to change the way Londoners eat.
O que mais me fascina é a história que está por detrás da criação deste espaço. Steve, o dono, abriu o Standfarm pouco depois de ter sido diagnosticado com cancro. O que mais me espanta é que de situações tão críticas como esta surjam, em vez da derrota, a motivação de mudar a forma como os londrinos comem.
In spite of the industrial decoration all the ingredients cooked here comes from several small producers in the UK and taste, I swear to God, as good as the vegetables from my mother's garden. For about 8 pounds the menu offers two choices of fish, meat and vegan dishes plus two accompaniments of your choise.
Apesar da decoração industrial o que aqui é confeccionado vem de vários pequenos produtores no Reino Unido e sabe tão bem como quando cozinhado com os legumes da horta que a minha mãe. Por cerca de 8 libras o menu oferece duas opões de peixe, carne e pratos vegan mais dois acompanhamentos à escolha.
Now you know that in the wild center of London you can eat country side quality food.

After lunch I ended up walking around Convent Garden, passing through the colourful Neal's Yard and ending up at Monmouth street where I drank the best coffee in town at Monmouth Coffee. This heat wave in the UK invites these kinds of lazy afternoons. I'm avoiding at all costs taking the tube since at the moment it feels more like a moving sauna. Consequently all these walks have made me fall in love again with the city that lit by the sun is so much more beautiful. I hope the good weather stays because...it's my birthday tomorrow (July 18th)!! A sunny day and my loved ones is all I ask for this special occasion!
Depois do almoço acabei por caminhar por Convent Garden, passando pelo pitoresco Neal's Yard e acabando em Monmouth street onde bebi o melhor café da cidade no Monmouth Coffee. A onda de calor que está no Reino Unido convida a este tipo de passeios. Aliás tenho evitado a todo o custo andar de metro uma vez que neste momento mais parece uma sauna ambulante. Tanta caminhada fez com que me apaixonasse novamente pela cidade que iluminada pelo sol é tão mais bonita. Espero que o bom tempo se mantenha porque... faço anos amanhã (18 de Julho)!! Um dia solarengo é tudo o que peço para entrar nos 27 em grande!
