Ubud
Depois de 20h a viajar pelos céus, chegámos ao outro lado do mundo: Bali. À saída do avião a humidade e o calor que se fazem sentir desvendam o óbvio: estou num país tropical!
Como chegamos de noite a beleza de Bali só nos foi revelada pela luz da manha. Acordei com o cantar dos pássaros, a dança das folhas da selva e a sinfonia do rio que corre por de baixo do meu quarto.
Ainda ensonada abri a rede mosquiteira e dirige-me até à janela, quando realmente abri os olhos deparei-me com tonalidades de verde que nunca antes vira.
Ubud fica no meio do fresco das montanhas e é o coração da cultura de Bali. A sua paisagem é composta por terraços de arroz, cascatas de água cristalina, vulcões activos, templos Hindu e lianas que caem das árvores onde os macacos se baloiçam.
Em Ubud há muitos restaurantes saudáveis, cafés alternativos e lojas pitorescas que vendem o artesanato local. Aqui há opções para todas carteiras, mas o ambiente sereno e artístico é uma constante seja num hotel luxuoso com uma piscina infinita como num alojamento local (homestay).
Ubud é um sítio do bem onde muitos vêm tratar do corpo e da alma, há centros de yoga, Spas e templos por todo o lado. Quem aqui vem encontra paz.

After flying through the clouds for 20 hours, we reached the other side of the world: Bali. As soon as I stepped out of the plane the humidity and the heat stated the obvious: I am in a tropical country!
As we arrived during the night the beauty of Bali was only revealed to us by the morning light. I woke up to the song of the birds, the dance of the leaves of the jungle, and the symphony of the river that flows under my room.
Still sleepy I opened the mosquito net and walked to the window, when I really opened my eyes I came across shades of green that I had never seen before.
Ubud is located in the cool mountains and is the heart of Bali's culture. Its landscape is made up of rice terraces, crystal water cascades, active volcanoes, Hindu temples and vines that fall from the trees where the monkeys swing.
In Ubud there are many healthy restaurants, alternative cafes and picturesque shops selling local handicrafts.There's somewhere to stay for every budget, the serene and artistic vibe is a constant whether you stay in a luxury hotel with an infinity pool or a homestay.
Ubud is a place of happiness where many come to heal theirs bodies and souls, there are yoga centers, spas and temples everywhere. Whoever comes here finds peace.

DICAS/TIPS
De quanto tempo preciso /How long do I need to see Ubud:
Eu fiquei 3 dias o que é suficiente para conhecer as atracções principais, mas por mim teria ficado mais tempo não só para explorar as vilas em redor de Ubud e realmente me entranhar na cultura mas também para aproveitar os hotéis e relaxar./I stayed 3 days which is enough to visit the main attractions but I would have liked to stay longer to be able to explore the villages around Ubud and not only to really go deeper into the culture but also to take advantage of the hotels and relax.
Onde devo ficar/Where should I stay:
Os melhores hotéis são fora do centro, eu fiquei no The Udaya Resorts and Spa (vem aí um post a caminho sobre o hotel). Mesmo que se fique num alojamento mais económico há sempre a possibilidade de ir visitar os hotéis de luxo e utilizar a piscina dos mesmos (normalmente há um consumo mínimo) / The best hotels are a bit away from the center, I stayed at The Udaya Resorts and Spa (I'll be doing a post about the hotel very soon). Even if you're travelling on a budget you can always experience the luxury hotels by visiting them and using their pools (usually there is a minimum spend).
Melhor meio de transporte/How to go around:
Eu aluguei uma scooter assim que cheguei. Com uma scooter ganha-se muita liberdade mas também mais responsabilidade, é preciso ter muita cautela a conduzir por estes lados. Aqui não são necessárias as burocracias europeias, o uso de capacete não é obrigatório (mas é bom que usem!), nem nos é pedido carta de condução apenas um rabisco numa folha e a promessa de que entregaremos a moto no dia e hora combinados. Terão sempre que negociar o preço de tudo em Bali, uma scooter deverá custar cerca de 50k (3.5€) ao dia. / I rented a scooter as soon as I arrived, which allowed us the freedom to explore Ubud by ourselves. Here there are no European bureaucracies, no one tells you to wear a helmet (you better wear one!), no one asks you for your driving license, all you need is a scrawl on a sheet and the promise that you will deliver the bike on the day and time arranged. You always have to negotiate the prices of everything in Bali, a scooter should cost you around 50k (3£) a day.

Subir o vulcão Batur ao amanhecer é OBRIGATÓRIO! O transfer apanha os passageiros nos respectivos hotéis por volta das duas da manhã, é lhes oferecido café e panquecas pelo caminho, chegando finalmente à base do vulcão espera-lhes uma caminhada a pique durante duas horas pelo escuro cerrado da noite. É preferível que se vá num dia de céu limpo. A vista de lá de cima foi das coisas mais bonitas na minha vida e vale cada gota de suor. / Doing the sunrise hike of the Batur volcano is MANDATORY! The shuttle picks up passengers at their hotels around 2am, coffee and pancakes are served along the way, when you finally reach the base of the volcano there will be a two hour hike in total darkness. It is preferable to go on a clear day, you'll get a better view. Watching the sunrise from the top of the vulcano was on of the most beautiful moments of my life, breathtaking and worth every sweat drop.
Onde comer/where to eat:
Jungle fish (bom para almoçar e depois passar o resto da tarde na piscina infinita/good for lunch and then you can stay and spend the rest of the day in their infinity pool)
