Élan Cafe
Just a few meters from Harrods and the crowds there is an oasis in which the ceiling and the walls are covered with flowers. I'm referring to Élan cafe, a place that will WOW you not only for the selection of unusual cakes and drinks but also for its blooming decoration. On the back of the café roses of varying sizes and shades commingle floor-to-ceiling. A wall similar to the one Kanye West gifted his wife, Kim Kardashian, with although these are not real roses.
A poucos metros do Harrods e do vai e vem de turistas, há um oasis cujo tecto e as paredes estão cobertas de flores. Falo-vos do Élan cafe, um espaço de perder a cabeça não só pela selecção de bolos e bebidas fora do comum como pela decoração. Na parte de trás do café rosas de diferentes tamanhos e tonalidades combrem a parede do chão ao tecto, uma parede semelhante à que Kanye West ofereceu à sua esposa, Kim Kardashian, no entanto estas não são rosas de verdade.
This spot is so so romantic! Élan Café is a paradise for instagrammers since in every corner there is something deserving of a photograph. The café is decorated in shades of gray and pink and in it there are very interesting details such as neon installations, quotes like "life begins after coffee" engraved on the cement floor, green croissants and of course, elaborate floral arrangements. I would say that the flood of cameras and iphones is the only snag of this space (wait did a blogger just write this ?!). Oh well, Élan Cafe is incredibly beautiful therefore it's only natural that everyone wants to capture it, including me!
Neste espaço celebra-se o romantismo! O Élan café é um paraíso para instagrammers visto que em todos os cantos existe algo merecedor de uma fotografia. O café está decorado em tons de cinza e cor-de-rosa e nele existem pormenores muito interessantes como instalações em neon, quotes como “life begins after coffee” gravadas no chão de cimento, croissants verdes e, claro, elaborados arranjos florais. Eu diria que a enchente de máquinas fotográficas e telefones é o único senão deste espaço (eu, blogger, acabei mesmo de escrever isto?!). Oh well, o Élan café é incrivelmente bonito e, portanto, não admira que toda a gente o queira capturar, incluindo eu!
While I waited for my friend to arrive I ordered, out of curiosity, one of the famous Lucky Charms lattes, a peculiar drink that besides being delicious looks as cute as the cafe's surroundings. Later on I opted for the Breakfast Plate and a Ruby Latte, also quite different from the normal lattes since it contains beetroot and ginger, once again yummy (and pink!). But for me the best of everything was the saffron and dulce de leche cake I ordered last, an unusual combination of flavours that, believe me, works flawlessly.
Enquanto esperava pela minha companhia pedi, por curiosidade, um dos famosos lattes com Lucky charms, uma bebida original que para além de deliciosa tem um aspecto tão amoroso como espaço em redor. Para comer pedi o Breakfast plate e um Ruby Latte que, mais uma vez, também se distingue dos lattes normais por conter beterraba e gengibre. Mas para mim o melhor deste brunch foi mesmo o bolo de açafrão e doce de leite, um combinação de sabores pouco usual mas que funciona na perfeição.
With such a special décor and menu, Élan Café is definitely worth a visit! I advise you to go there during the week because, as I have experienced, the weekend is their busiest period, which usually results in a long queue outside of the establishment and in a less relaxed environment thanks to the curious Instagrammers who go there to capture the beauty of this space.
By the way, one year ago today I launched this blog! Thank you so much for reading it and for sending so many kind and motivating comments and messages. It gives me great pleasure to write this blog and exchange ideas with my readers, if it wasn't for the interaction I have with you this would be a bit boring. Thank you for tagging along with me me on this, still short, journey. I believe that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the potential of the digital world, being a blogger is still, God knows why, not taken so seriously by the older generations even though it's something that involves a lot of work. Perhaps it's the lack of rules that discredits this profession. In my opinion that freedom is what makes it so attractive. I can't wait to see what will come next! In order for me to be able to develop and improve the blog in the following year, I would be super grateful if you could leave me your feedback as well as any suggestions you might have in the comments section :) Thank you so much!
Com uma decoração e menu tão característicos o Élan Café merece definitivamente uma visita! Aconselho que o visitem durante a semana pois, como pude experienciar, os fins-de-semana são os dias mais concorridos do estabelicimento o que por norma resulta em grandes filas de espera no exterior do mesmo e numa refeição menos tranquila graças aos curiosos instagrammers que aqui se deslocam para capturar a beleza deste espaço.
Já agora, hoje faz um ano que lancei este blog! Muito obrigada por o lerem e por enviarem tantos comentários e mensagens simpáticas e motivadoras. Dá-me mesmo muito prazer escrever e trocar ideias com os meus leitores, se não fosse a interação que tenho convosco isto seria muito mais aborrecido. Obrigada por me acompanharem nesta minha, ainda curta, jornada. Acredito que estejamos apenas a ver a ponta do iceberg no que toca ao potencial do mundo digital, ser blogger é, sabe-se lá porquê, uma actividade que não é levada tão a sério pelas gerações mais antigas ainda que seja algo que envolva muito trabalho. Talvez seja a falta de regras a razão pela qual esta profissão é tão descredibilizada. Na minha opinião essa liberdade é o que a torna atraente. Mal posso esperar para ver o que aí vem!
