Bits I Bought On Sale & The Pressure of Social Media
I was going to start this post by apologising for lately not posting with as much frequency as I would like to, but then I realised that there is no need to apologise. Sometimes I am invaded by a pressure that, I acknowledge, is imposed by myself when I feel that I am not presenting enough content. Although aware that this feeling is self-inflicted, somehow the pressure is always there, does anyone else feel like this? The truth is that there is no need to apologise for not being able to produce more content, just as I should not feel the need to apologize when I don't reply to an email promptly. We live in a time where everything happens immediatly and, often, we forget to value other people's time as well as ours. The fact that technology allows us to contact someone very easily doesn't mean that that person has to be available for us, and this is something that I have to learn to deal with better. It's important that we remember that the world will not fall apart if we don't respond to someone promptly, or if someone has not replied to us. I'm completely deviating from the subject I wanted to talk about initially when I started writing this post. In fact I wanted to talk to you about what I bought on sale and explain that it's not necessary to spend a crazy amount of money to dress well. But actually, this subject is linked to the previous one, I think the comparison that inevitably happens when I see the work of other digital entrepreneurs which, as a rule, consists of a stream of photographs that exhibit trips to dream land and the latest fashion trends, is what creates that pressure I was talking about initially. But, let's be real, in the real world no one gets designer bags and invitations to travel first class every day. My blog does not finance my life and my days are not filled with travel, brunchs, shopping trips and photo shoots. And even though I want this to be a space where I can somehow inspire my readers, I also want, above all, to be a space where I feel that I can express myself honestly, so instead of apologising I would like to say that I missed you :) If you're still reading, let me tell you what I bought on sale!
Ia começar este post por pedir desculpa pelo facto de andar a fazer blog posts com menos frequência mas depois apercebi-me que não há necessidade de me desculpar. Por vezes sou invadida por uma pressão que, reconheço, é imposta por mim mesma quando sinto que não estou a apresentar conteúdo suficiente. Ainda que ciente de que este sentimento é por mim mesma infligido, de algum modo a pressão está sempre lá, será que sou a única a senti-la? A verdade é que não há necessidade nenhuma de pedir desculpa por não andar a conseguir produzir mais conteúdo, da mesma forma de que não deveria sentir a necessidade de me desculpar quando respondo a um email com alguns dias de atraso. Vivemos na era do imediato e, às vezes, esquecem-nos de respeitar o nosso tempo e o dos outros. O facto do avanço da tecnologia nos permitir contactar alguém com muita facilidade não quer dizer que essa pessoa tenha que estar disponível para nós, e isso é algo com que eu tenho que aprender a lidar melhor. É importante que nos lembremos que o mundo não vai desabar se não respondermos a alguém com prontidão, ou se alguém não nos responder a nós. Estou-me completamente a desviar do assunto sobre o qual queria falar inicialmente quando comecei a escrever este post. Na verdade queria falar-vos do que comprei durante os saldos e explicar que não é necessário gastar muito dinheiro para nos vestirmos bem. Mas, de alguma forma, este assunto está ligado ao anterior, eu acho que a comparação que inevitavelmente acontece ao ver o trabalho de outras(os) empreendedoras(es) do digital que, por norma, consiste num fluxo de fotografias que exibem viagens de sonho e os últimos gritos da moda, é o que cria essa mesma pressão. Mas, let's be real, no mundo real ninguém recebe malas de designer e convites para viajar em primeira classe todos os dias. O meu blog não financia a minha vida e os meus dias não são preenchidos por viagens, brunchs, idas às compras e sessões fotográfica. E ainda que eu queria que este seja um espaço onde eu possa de alguma forma inspirar os meus leitores também quero, a cima de tudo, que seja um espaço onde eu sinta que me possa expressar com honestidade, portanto em vez de vos pedir desculpa digo-vos que estava com saudades vossas :) Se ainda me estiveres a ler vamos lá então falar sobre o que eu comprei nos saldos!
Good jeans and a white shirt never disappoint. This shirt is from H&M and I bought it on sale for £ 11.99. The jeans are from Zara and were only £ 12.99. For a long time I've been dreaming about buying a pair of RE / DONE jeans, but since the price is not very attractive (more than two hundred pounds), the Zara ones will do the job for now. Although I agree with the fact that it's not necessary to spend a lot of money to dress well the truth is that, when it comes to jeans, cheap ones usually lose shape after three washes, let's see how long these last. I bought some black jeans from Acne studios over two years ago that were quite expensive but the truth is that they are the item that I wear the most and still they haven't faded or widened one millimeter whatsoever. So I am also of the opinion that sometimes it pays off when you invest in key items. I had been wanting this shirt for a long time and when I saw it on sale I bought it straight away, I love the sleeves that start wide and get tighter on the wrist. Despite being a simple white shirt its unusual structure is what makes it special.
Uns bons jeans e uma camisa branca nunca desapontam. Comprei esta camisa nos saldos da H&M por £11.99 e os jeans na Zara por £12.99. Ando há muito tempo a sonhar comprar uns jeans da RE/DONE, mas como o preço não é muito atraente (para cima de duzentas libras), fiquei-me por estes da Zara. Ainda que concorde com o facto de não ser necessário gastar muito dinheiro para nos vestirmos bem a verdade é que, no que toca a jeans, os baratos normalmente perdem a forma ao fim de três lavagens, vamos lá ver quanto é que estes duram. Comprei uns jeans pretos na Acne studios há mais de dois anos que foram bastante caros mas a verdade é que são a peça que mais uso e ainda não desbotaram nem alargaram um milímetro que seja. Por isso também sou da opinião que às vezes compensa em investir em peças chave. Eu andava a namorar esta camisa há muito tempo e quando a vi em saldo comprei-a logo, adoro as mangas que começam largas e afunilam no pulso. Apesar de ser uma camisa branca simples a sua estrutura pouco usual é o que a torna especial.
This Ralph Lauren cashmere jumper is the dream, it's my boyfriend's and it wasn't cheap (oops!), but there it is, a key item that will probably be used by him (and by me eheh) for many many years. Cashmere is by itself a very expensive wool, but the truth is that there is nothing softer and warmer. I like to wear these kind of jumpers with a T-shirt underneath showing, I find that layering it makes it look cooler, I bought this linen white T-shirt at H&M for £ 4.89. The jeans are from Zara, cost only £ 12.99 and fit like a glove. After all, a white look can also work on a grey winter day.
Esta camisola de caxemira da Ralph Lauren é um sonho, é do meu namorado e não foi nada barata, mas lá está, é uma peça chave que provavelmente vai ser usada por ele (e por mim eheh) durante muitos muitos anos. A caxemira é por si só é uma lã muito cara, mas a verdade é que não há nada mais suave e quentinho. Eu gosto de usar este tipo de camisolas com uma T-shirt a ver-se por baixo, neste caso uma branca de linho que comprei na H&M por £4.89. Os jeans são da Zara, custaram £12.99 e vestem que nem uma luva. Afinal um look todo branco também pode resultar num dia de Inverno.

I'm sorry that the photographs don't show very well this black one piece I'm wearing, that's what happens when I photograph myself, I can not always get the angles I want. If you read me often you may know that black is my favourite colour. This one piece is super simple, but it's somehow quite sexy and only cost £ 5.99 at H&M. The jeans are the ones from Acne Studios that I mentioned earlier and the boots I also bought at Zara for £ 9.99. They were my best sale purchase, what a bargain! The wide heel makes them ideal for both day and night.
Lamento que as fotografias não mostrem muito bem este body preto que estou a usar, é o que acontece quando me fotografo a mim mesma, nem sempre consigo os ângulos que pretendo. Se me lês com frequência talvez saibas que o preto é a minha cor preferida. Este body é super simples, mas é de alguma forma bastante sensual e só custou £5.99 na H&M. As calças são as tais da Acne Studios de que vos falei anteriormente e as botas comprei-as também na Zara por £9.99. São a melhor compra que fiz! O salto largo faz com que sejam ideais tanto para durante o dia como para a noite.
And that's it, this is what I bought on sale, very simple and basic items but also very useful for my day to day life. In order to buy good items on sale I think the secret is to not go in store, buy everything online and opt for basic items. If you have a good selection of basics in black, white, gray and beige in your closet then you will always shine! Pronto, isto foi o que eu comprei nos saldos, peças muito simples e básicas mas que são muito úteis para o meu dia-a-dia. Acho que o segredo para fazer boas compras nos saldos é não ir às lojas, comprar tudo on-line e apostar nos básicos.
